All team members, including residents and fellows, pay all health care insurance premiums.
The program covers the cost of life insurance.
After 4 months of employment full time staff members will be covered at 60% of their monthly stipend after 180 days of a disability.
Residents are provided with adequate liability insurance as required by the ACGME including a permanent, extended reporting endorsement (i.e., you are covered for residency related issues forever). Moonlighting is not required and is discouraged. Therefore, it is not covered by this insurance.
Resident membership in the American College of Surgeons, and Ohio State training licensure are paid by the department.
An employee discount is offered on purchases in the cafeteria, and each resident is provided a monthly food stipend to help cover the cost of meals, especially while on call. Reimbursement is provided for meals while residents are on away rotations, matching the amount of the monthly stipend.
Residents who are beyond the first year of postgraduate training are permitted to attend one national professional meeting per year. If presenting research, the conference cost will be covered by the Department of Surgery.
All residents get 4 weeks of paid vacation each year.
