The Cardiothoracic surgeons at the TriHealth Heart & Vascular Institute teamed with our own vascular surgeons to be the first in Cincinnati to perform a thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair (TEVAR) procedure in 2006.
This minimally invasive procedure helps protect the aneurysm by placing a stent directly inside the aneurysm, using a guide wire that is inserted into the groin. Once placed at the site of the aneurysm, the graft expands to seal the aneurysm and exclude it from circulation. TEVAR helps to protect an aneurysm from the everyday pressure of blood flow that could cause it to rupture.
At TriHealth, the minimally invasive TEVAR is the standard of care for treating aneurysms in the aortic arch and thoracic descending aorta. Our goal is to minimize pain and accelerate the healing process, so you can go back to leading a normal, worry-free life.
