Whenever possible, we perform procedures using robotic-assisted surgery or other minimally invasive techniques that eliminate sternotomies (opening of the chest), meaning less discomfort and a faster recovery for you. Robotic-assisted cardiac and thoracic surgery is less invasive as it does not require opening up the chest. Instead, the surgeon operates through several keyhole incisions along the side of the chest. Less invasive, robotic technology does not compromise the surgeon's ability to complete difficult cardiac and thoracic procedures. Rather, it allows the surgeon to perform a more precise operation than is available through open surgery.
