Having heart disease or a heart procedure does not mean the end of an active life. It does mean work on your part, though, to make your heart stronger and healthier. One of the best steps you can take to improve your recovery and aid in the prevention of heart problems is to enter the TriHealth Heart & Vascular Institute's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
Our Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is located in one of the foremost fitness centers in the area, the TriHealth Fitness & Health Pavilion and also at Good Samaritan Western Ridge and McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital. We offer rehab participants modern, state-of-the-art facilities coupled with supervision from our highly skilled cardiac rehabilitation staff. You do not have to be a member of the Fitness Pavilion to participate in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at that location.
This program begins in the inpatient hospital setting and provides guidance on the healing process following a heart procedure. You will have the opportunity to speak with our cardiac educators and receive an informational book which serves as a wonderful resource on making heart healthy lifestyle changes. You will be encouraged to begin a walking exercise program that will help you gain strength and be ready to transition to our Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
To begin this program, your physician must write a referral. Your program will start with an orientation session. Then, you will come to one of our Heart Institute's Cardiac Rehabilitation Department three times a week to exercise on a variety of stationary equipment. Low-level circuit weight-training for upper body strengthening is also available. The program can vary in length up to 12 weeks. Although you exercise with a group, you are monitored under the guidelines established for your individual condition. Your heart will be monitored during every session.

This ongoing program encourages you to self-monitor your exercise intensity and maintain your own daily exercise patterns and lifestyle at home. Some Phase III participants choose to continue their exercise program at our premiere fitness center, the TriHealth Fitness & Health Pavilion. Our staff can assist you with this transition and obtaining a Pavilion membership.
With professional guidance and your own commitment to making lifestyle changes, you can strengthen you heart and increase your odds for a longer, healthier life.
