Types of strokeA stroke is a sudden interruption of the blood supply to the brain. Most strokes are caused by an abrupt blockage of an artery (ischemic stroke). Other strokes are caused by bleeding into brain tissue when a blood vessel bursts (hemorrhagic stroke).

At TriHealth, we offer expert advanced neurologic care close to your home. By having four levels of stroke care, we can be sure to get you to the appropriate level of care you need. All of our sites offer acute neurocritical care consults and emergency evaluations using telemedicine technology.

TriHealth Stroke Program

The mission of our Stroke Program is to provide the best evidence-based, multi-disciplinary care to all patients who have stroke symptoms and to provide this care in a safe, reliable, and timely manner. Our goal is to reduce morbidity and mortality caused by stroke through a timely diagnosis and patient-centered effective treatment to all stroke patients who seek care in our facilities. TriHealth’s system of certified stroke care is the most comprehensive in the greater Cincinnati area.
