Stroke Quality Measures

At TriHealth, we are committed to improving the stroke outcomes and providing excellent stroke care to the of the population we serve. Our quality experts are continually monitoring and looking for ways to improve the care we provide based on new evidenced based recommendations by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Stroke Association (ASA).

Created by the ASA and AHA, Get with the Guidelines® (GWTG) is a hospital-based quality improvement initiative to improve the care of patients with cardiac diseases and stroke. Core measures reported on this site are used to create a composite score to rate the overall quality of stroke care. Use the link below to see how all our hospitals are doing on each measure depending on their level of certification by the Joint Commission. Once on the page you can search via geographical location and disease specialty (i.e. Stroke).

At TriHealth, serious adverse events are monitored after the following procedures:

  • Carotid Endarterectomy (a surgical procedure to remove plague and restore blood flow)
  • Carotid Stent (a surgical procedure that sends a long hollow tube inserts a slender metal mesh tube called a stent which expands inside your carotid artery to increase blood flow in areas blocked by plague)
  • Cerebral Angiogram (diagnostic procedure to help diagnose blood vessel issues in the brain)
  • The Mechanical Endovascular Reperfusion Therapy (MER) rate is closely monitored (the amount of blood flow restored after a procedure to remove a blood clot)
  • Serious bleeding complication rates after Thrombolytic Administration (a medication that is used to dissolve clots) when having an Acute Ischemic Stroke (stroke caused by clots) are tracked as provided as a percentage.
