How to select a PCP with TriHealth

Choosing the right primary care provider is a personal decision based on your health needs, lifestyle and preferences. Different types of providers specialize in caring for patients with certain medical concerns or at specific stages of life.

When looking for a PCP, ask:

  • Which doctors are in-network and accept my health insurance?
  • Do they care for patients my age and with my health needs? Do they have additional training or interest in a particular area relevant to my health?
  • Where is the doctor’s office located? Is it near my home or workplace?
  • What’s their philosophy of care? Will they get to know me, take time to listen, answer my questions and treat me with respect?
  • Is it easy to schedule an appointment by phone or online?
  • Do they offer evening, weekend or virtual care appointments? What are their after-hours and cancellation policies?
  • Do they have a patient portal for communicating with my PCP, scheduling, bill pay, and viewing my test results and medical records? 
  • Are they connected to a fully integrated health care system so I can easily access all the care I may need?
