Sports Medicine Fellowship

The Bethesda Family Medicine Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship is a one year clinical fellowship fully accredited by the ACGME. Two fellows per year are chosen through the NRMP match process. The program features a partnership between the Bethesda Family Medicine Residency Program and Beacon Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. This partnership allows our fellows access to a state-of-the-art facility with on-site musculoskeletal ultrasound, physical therapy, physical medicine services, radiology services including MRI, and two operating rooms with viewing rooms.

Our fellows serve as team physicians at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels. Fellows are expected to take an active teaching role with residents and medical students at the Bethesda Family Medicine Center. Upon completion of the fellowship, graduates will be eligible to take the exam for a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.

Our faculty does more than provide a well-rounded education; they strive to instill the value of patient-centered, coordinated care in every fellow.

How to Apply

• Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
• 3 Letters of Recommendation – Request 1 from program director, 1 from sports medicine faculty, 1 other
• In Addition please supply the following
  • AMSSM Fellowship Directors’ Code of Ethics for the Match & Due Process for Non-Compliance
  • Certification of Previous Residency Training or Validation of Current Training
  • Copy of present state licenses
