Christopher Chen, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treatment of the hand, wrist, forearm and elbow. He has advanced training in trauma, sports injuries, peripheral nerve conditions, reconstruction, and degenerative conditions.
Dr. Chen graduated with academic honors from Rice University with a BA in bioscience. He received his medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency and hand surgery fellowship at the University of Colorado, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He has served with the Touching Hands Project by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, where he performed outreach surgery for underserved communities in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Dr. Chen’s practice philosophy at Beacon focuses on patient-specific care. He strongly believes in patient education and joint decision making, and strives to formulate a treatment plan that is specific to each patient’s lifestyle and needs. He encourages patients to live an active lifestyle, make healthy choices, and take care when using their hands.
Married to another physician, Dr. Chen’s family includes a young son and a golden retriever named George. He leads an active lifestyle and enjoys skiing, running, hiking, biking, and CrossFit. He also enjoys cooking with his wife, reading, and listening to audiobooks.
