Stephanie Kerlakian, MD, is a board-certified general
surgeon and fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon. Her
passion for anatomy and physiology took her to medical
school, where she realized she loved being in the
operating room. While fixing problems through surgery
drew her to the field, it was the personal connections
she made with her patients – from initial consultation to
postoperative visits – that solidified her career choice.
As a general surgeon, Dr. Kerlakian diagnoses and treats
a wide range of conditions, such as gallbladder disease,
appendicitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and
complex hernias. She also performs bariatric surgery, a
subspecialty that treats the disease of obesity. Dr. Kerlakian
loves seeing how surgery, combined with lifestyle
changes, can positively impact a person’s life. She believes
strongly in making her patients feel comfortable in her
office, ensuring their needs and desires are heard. She
encourages everyone to stay active, balanced, motivated,
and connected with their bodies.
A Cincinnati native, Dr. Kerlakian is married and has two
daughters. She enjoys being outside – hiking, cycling,
walking her very energetic dog, and traveling to the
mountains.
