I appreciate the way she listened to me this time. Last time I was in we were having a medicine discussion, I was frustrated with the recommended approach, but I don't believe that was Dr. Peedan's doing, but instead likely a tri-health requirement. After receiving an ADHD diagnosis years ago, I was being asked to be reassessed and re-diagnosed in order to have a discussion about medicine. I had worked with Dr. Peden for a couple of years. And my previous doctor before that trying to find the right help, especially cause medicine was not my first choice. It took a lot for me to come to a provider and state that I wanted to try a stimulant took a lot of discernment on my part. As it was something, I had always sworn I didn't want to do. When I finally felt there was nothing else I could do to be met with being reassessed for a diagnosis I had already received from a reputable tri-health doctor was more than frustrating. I felt unheard, And question my own knowledge about myself. There were tears in the office and afterwards. I was able to work through these issues in a conversation with another provider who offered support and help. As I said, I don't think this was a decision on Dr. Peden as I've never felt this way in the past with her support and medical care. I was so pleased with our relationship in this most recent visit And it assures me we will continue to have a great patient Dr relationship moving forward. I say this, not for the sake of Dr. Peden changing anything she did, but for the system to recognize that patient centered care should never cause a patient to question their knowledge about themselves. I hope this is red and heard with the positive intention that it is written with.
