With more than 17 years of experience as a
gastroenterologist, medical director and assistant
professor, Dr. Stephan Dehmel is a board-certified
gastroenterologist with a special interest in inflammatory
bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome. His interest
in medicine began with his parents and grandparents,
who were involved in the medical field.
Dr. Dehmel sees patients for cancer screening and a
variety of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. He believes
in a holistic approach to medicine rather than focusing
on medications. He likes to get to know his patients,
believeing that learning more about their lives will
help determine the best course of treatment. He also
emphasizes prevention to help people live healthy lives
through essential screenings, including colonoscopies
and endoscopies. Dr. Dehmel encourages everyone
to eat a balanced diet with fruits and vegetables, while
avoiding processed foods.
Originally from East Germany, Dr. Dehmel is married
and has two grown daughters. He is an avid cyclist and
swimmer. He loves classical music and choral singing.
