Dr. Nikki Smedal likes to say medicine is in her blood, since her family has a strong background in medicine. Her great‑grandfather was a physician and started the labor and delivery unit in the local hospital. In college, she went on a medical mission trip and found that caring for the women there was particularly moving. She appreciates seeing her patients through some of the most joyful and vulnerable moments of their lives.
Dr. Smedal sees adolescents and adults for all obstetric and gynecologic concerns, including routine exams, pregnancy care and menopausal care. She has specialized training in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. She works with her pregnant patients to create a labor and delivery plan that best suits their goals and assures a healthy mom and baby. She creates a caring and supportive environment, where patients can feel safe. Dr. Smedal encourages everyone to take time every day to appreciate something in their lives, noting that a grateful mindset helps reduce stress and improve overall health.
A native of Wisconsin, Dr. Smedal danced ballet as a child and is looking forward to taking in Cincinnati Ballet and other arts performances. She would like to share her skills on future medical mission trips.
