TriHealth On Call: Centering Pregnancy

A new approach to prenatal care is changing the way that care is delivered and helping expectant mothers gain self-confidence and knowledge – leading to healthier moms and babies. Centering Pregnancy is a model of group prenatal care that includes three major components: health assessment, education and support. Eight to twelve women with similar gestational ages meet together for discussions focused on pregnancy, birth, nutrition, breastfeeding, child care, safety and new mothering issues.

This segment of TriHealth On Call takes a look at the impact centering pregnancy is having on new expectant mothers, such as Alexia Wynn, a participant in the program at TriHealth’s OB-GYN Center at Good Samaritan Hospital. Alexia is joined by Certified Nurse Practitioner Elizabeth Geiger and OB-GYN David Dhanraj, MD, who provide more information about the program and how it provides confidence and prenatal care.
