  • Cardiology

As a cardiologist, Dr. Rick Gaines enjoys being able to treat his patients at every level, from the prevention of illness to stopping disease progression to managing the symptoms. This cutting-edge technology can be used to detect and assess a number of heart conditions, as well as plan and evaluate treatment options.

Dr. Gaines treats adults with diseases of the cardiovascular system, including coronary and valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathies. He is specially trained in the interpretation of heart imaging and personally reviews the results with his patients. With a patient-centric approach, Dr. Gaines works with his patients and their families so they can fully understand their conditions and treatment plans. He encourages everyone to be engaged in their health care and make every day a healthy day.

Married to a native Cincinnatian, Dr. Gaines enjoys spending time with his family. He also leads an active lifestyle with gardening, skiing and rock climbing.

Dr. Gaines was obviously prepared for my visit. (I have experienced doctors who have not read my patient records prior to my appointment.) He explained the results of my test to me and what they Indicated. His explanations and comments were very easy to understand, he offered multiple plans of treatment, and listened attentively to my questions. He also offered advice regarding what to be mindful of in the future. I would highly recommend Dr. Gaines to others.

I expressed my concerns about my health to Dr. Gaines and he listened to what I said. When he tried to advocate for a drug that I don't want to take, he did not try to make me feel like an idiot because I don't want it. I feel like he's really trying to make me part of my healthcare
