Mahyar Pourriahi, MD, specializes in heart failure and transplantation. He completed his medical education cum laude and pursued further training in cardiovascular disease, advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. Early training as a biomedical engineer gave him a strong foundation, naturally leading him to cardiology. He values the privilege of helping patients and families navigate uncertainty, witnessing resilience and the impact of a well‑coordinated team effort.
As a board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Pourriahi helps people with heart failure live longer, healthier lives with medications and mechanical support like left ventricular assist devices (LVAD). He also has a special interest in sarcoidosis, amyloidosis and inflammatory cardiomyopathy. He also has been involved in medical research and clinical trials. Dr. Pourriahi blends evidence-based medicine with empathy and clear communication. In a safe and respectful environment, he empowers patients and families with knowledge, helping them become active partners in their care. He encourages everyone to communicate openly about symptoms, challenges, and fears to allow earlier interventions and healthier lives.
Dr. Pourriahi attended middle and high school in Cincinnati. He enjoys travel, cooking and backgammon.
