Joseph D. Thomas MD
Dr. Thomas, a native of Cincinnati, graduated with honors from Elder High School and Miami University. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his residency at Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus. As an Orthopedic Surgeon in the United States Air Force, he was awarded The Commodation and Meritorious Service Medals for distinguished service. Dr. Thomas completed the Physician Leadership Program at Xavier University and has served as the Chief of Orthopedics at Good Samaritan Hospital, as well as at Bethesda North Hospital. His faculty positions have included Assistant Professor at Wright State Medical School, Volunteer Clinical Instructor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Clinical Professor at Marietta College.
Dr. Thomas is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Along with practicing general orthopedics, his special interests include joint replacement, arthroscopy/sports medicine, and fracture care. He has practiced locally since 1994 and joined Ohio Valley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Inc. in 2000, which then joined TriHealth in 2012. Dr. Thomas has been recognized by his peers as one of Cincinnati Magazine's 'Top Doctors.'
