Lorraine Stephens, MD Named Vice President of Academic Affairs

TriHealth, Cincinnati’s nationally recognized health care system, is pleased to announce that Lorraine Stephens, MD, has accepted the role of Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Dr. Stephens is a family medicine physician with more than 20 years of experience with TriHealth. This includes serving as Bethesda Family Practice Residency Program Director, Medical Director of the TriHealth Population Health Organization and TriHealth System Chief for Family Medicine. In addition, Dr. Stephens served on the TriHealth Board of Directors from 2022-2024.

As Vice President of Academic Affairs she will lead the Department of Graduate Medical Education (GME) in developing future physician leaders through an academically rigorous and supportive learning environment, ensuring residents and fellows are equipped with knowledge, skills and values needed to delivery exceptional patient care.

Dr. Stephens will also be instrumental to TriHealth’s relationship with Xavier University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, which is scheduled to welcome its inaugural class in 2027.

“TriHealth has a proven reputation of fostering and promoting strong, capable health care leaders from within our system,” TriHealth President and CEO Mark Clement said. “Lorraine’s two decades of health care experience and leadership make her the ideal choice to continue the TriHealth GME program’s long history of preparing the next generation of physicians for the increasingly complex and changing world of health care.”

Dr. Stephens is assuming the role from Steven Johnson, MD, who had served in the role since 2015. Dr. Johnson will return to clinical practice while serving actively as a faculty member within the GME.
